ELEVATE Ireland 2017
From Nick and Joel (and maybe Luis??)
Posted on March 27th, 2017
Hey Everybody, how is your time in Canada?
We are experiencing beautiful weather, green grass, driving on the wrong side of the road, and ecstatic attitudes from the amazing students (especially Nick, Luis, and Joel (AKA the authors (not Luis, he isn’t writing this))).
Anyways, today we got a rental car, and this afternoon we split into groups and we headed out to volunteer at a farm and we handed out posters to invite people to an Easter event the local churches are putting on for shops to put in their windows. But first, before all the afternoon activities, we split into teams in order to run all over the town and complete a ……… Scavenger Hunt!!!!!!!! We got to go from end to end of the town while getting lost with leaders, at least most of the time. We talked to people with strange and wonderful accents in order to learn more about the city and the language. After we ate lunch, we moved onto the afternoon activities. At the farm, we sorted logs and branches into piles, weeded a large rock area, and saw some amazing Irish landscape. We also met a lovely couple, Guy and Tessa, as well as their angry geese, the best sheepdog ever, their sheep and horses and an adorable 9 day old calf. While handing out posters, we split into two groups. In each group we alternated going into the shops asking if we they would be okay with having the poster on their windows. Majority said “yes”! After these activities, we came back to the white house where we are dwelling until the morrow. For dinner, we had delicious pork and potatoes, with a side of salad and a bun.
Now we’re going to practice worship and ballooning in preparation for our day tomorrow.
